9router is an open-source router for LLM API calls; it lets you send requests to multiple AI model providers and pick which one handles each request. There's no official "9router Cloud"; it's a gateway you run yourself and point your code at. On blitz.cloud you can run 9router free, with the usual free-plan limits, or keep it awake on Pro so requests never queue.

## Self-hosting 9router yourself

9router's source is public under the MIT licence, free for any use including commercial. What it costs instead: a server you pick and pay for whether you use it or not, installing Docker, setting up HTTPS yourself, and keeping backups and updates current.

## Running your own 9router on blitz.cloud

You can run 9router on blitz.cloud free of charge. [Install 9router](https://dashboard.blitz.cloud/new?app=9router&from=store) from the App Store; it comes with its own HTTPS address and 1 GB of storage, and it needs no database. On the free plan it sleeps after 30 minutes without a visit, and while it sleeps it stops proxying requests.

On Pro, 7 EUR a month, you can keep 9router awake so requests go through immediately.

It runs in the small resource size, 128 MB of memory reserved with room to grow to 512 MB. We don't have a timed install figure for 9router yet; it has no database to wait on, which is why it runs in the lightest size the store offers.

## Is it free / does it run 24/7 / do I need a card

**Is 9router free?** The software is free either way. Usage-based alternatives like OpenRouter charge by the request; 9router itself charges nothing, you pay the upstream model APIs directly. Running it yourself on blitz.cloud's free plan costs nothing.

**Does it run 24/7?** Self-hosting it yourself does, if your server stays up. On blitz.cloud's free plan it sleeps when nobody visits and requests queue; on Pro it stays awake and requests go through immediately.

**Do I need a card?** blitz.cloud's free plan needs no card.
