EU PaaS alternatives: blitz.cloud, Scaleway, Clever Cloud, Koyeb, Northflank
European hosting platforms compared with blitz.cloud on company location, EU regions, free tiers, Docker images and databases, checked 14 September 2026.
If you want a platform run by a European company, Scaleway and Clever Cloud (both France) are the established options with many products and paid databases, Northflank (UK) has a free sandbox with a database but asks for a card, and Koyeb no longer offers a free plan to new sign-ups. blitz.cloud is the smallest of these: one data centre in Germany, a free plan without a card that includes a database, and fewer features than the others. Pick by what you need today, not by the flag.

Scaleway Serverless Containers
Scaleway runs containers that scale to zero and bills by the second, which is cheap for bursty traffic. Every region is in the EU and the company is French. It fits if you're comfortable with a card on file and a larger cloud around your containers. Private external registries aren't supported, and there's no built-in git deploy.
Clever Cloud
Clever Cloud is the veteran EU PaaS: git push deploys, many runtimes, and a long list of managed databases. There's no permanent free app tier, and its free DEV databases have had no backups since October 2025. Note that its pricing page lists Oracle Cloud, a US company, among its infrastructure providers.
Koyeb
Koyeb has git and Docker deploys and Postgres, and since February 2026 it belongs to Mistral AI. New sign-ups can't get the free Starter plan anymore; the cheapest plan is Pro at $29 a month plus compute. It fits teams that want a French-owned platform with serverless scaling and are ready to pay.
Northflank
Northflank is a capable platform with git and Docker deploys, many database engines and the option to run inside your own cloud account. Its free sandbox gives two services that don't sleep and one database, but asks for a card. The company is British, so it's European but outside the EU.
sota.io
sota.io is a Berlin company with a platform in Falkenstein, Germany. It's invite-only early access for now and hasn't published pricing, so we left it out of the table.
Where blitz.cloud fits
blitz.cloud makes sense if you want to start without a card, keep a few apps and a database running for free in Germany, and don't need git push deploys or custom domains yet. If you need those today, or several regions, or a larger company behind the service, one of the platforms above fits better. See what's live for what blitz.cloud does and doesn't do.
