blitz.cloud vs Railway: free plan, EU region and Docker compared
Railway against blitz.cloud on the trial and $1 Free plan, Amsterdam region, Docker images, databases and custom domains, checked 14 September 2026.
Railway is the better choice when you want git push deploys, database templates including MySQL and MongoDB, and usage-based pricing that starts at $5 a month. blitz.cloud fits when you want a free plan with room for 15 apps, a managed database and hosting in Germany by a German company. Railway's Free plan gives $1 a month of usage, no custom domains and no choice of region.

Where Railway is the better choice
Railway's developer experience is its strength. Connect a repository, and services, databases and environment variables show up on one canvas that redeploys on push. It pulls images from more registries than Docker Hub, and it offers MongoDB and MySQL, which blitz.cloud doesn't.
Usage-based billing also suits apps with uneven traffic, and the Hobby plan is cheap for what it includes. Railway has regions in the US and Asia too. If you need any of these today, Railway is the more complete product.
Where blitz.cloud fits better
- You want to stay on a free plan for months with more than a toy workload: 15 apps and 2 GB of memory shared between them, not $1 of usage.
- You want your data in Germany. On Railway's Free plan you can't pick the Amsterdam region.
- You want store apps like Ghost, Vaultwarden or n8n installed in a few clicks, each under its own subdomain with HTTPS.
- You prefer a German operator without a US parent.
Moving from Railway to blitz.cloud
Services that run from a Docker image move directly: make the image public on Docker Hub, check it runs without root on a port such as 8080, and deploy it.
