Immich hosting in the EU
Run your own Immich, an alternative to Google Photos and iCloud Photos. One-click install, HTTPS, servers in the EU. On Pro, 14 days free.
Immich: back up every photo from your phone, automatically. Like Google Photos, but yours. On blitz.cloud you install it from the App Store in one click. It gets its own address with HTTPS, 5 GB of storage and the PostgreSQL and Redis it needs, and it runs on servers in the EU. Immich needs more memory than the free plan has, so it runs on Pro (7 EUR a month, 14-day trial without a card).
A self-hosted alternative to Google Photos, iCloud Photos and Amazon Photos
Immich does the job of Google Photos, iCloud Photos or Amazon Photos, but it is your own copy: your data sits in your app, not in somebody else's account, and nobody changes the price or the rules on you. Self-hosting usually means renting a server and keeping it patched. Here the App Store sets it up and keeps it running.
What it needs
| Need | Immich |
|---|---|
| Memory | 768 MB reserved from your plan |
| Storage | 5 GB |
| Database | PostgreSQL and Redis, created and connected for you |
| Plan | Pro |
Install it
- Create a free account and open the App Store in the dashboard.
- Search for Immich, or for Google Photos, and pick a name. It becomes the address, like
immich.yourname.blitz.cloud. - Click Put it online. The last step lists everything that gets created, the database included, and how much of your plan it uses.
- Open the app's address and create the admin account. The first account made is the one in charge.
- Install the Immich app on your phone, enter the app's address as the server and turn on backup.
Good to know
Face and object search are off for now, because they need more memory than an app gets here. Photos, albums, the map and sharing all work.
Questions
Can I host Immich for free?
Not on the free plan: Immich needs a larger size than it has. Pro costs 7 EUR a month and starts with a 14-day trial that needs no card.
Where is my Immich data stored?
On blitz.cloud's servers in the EU, run by BlitzWorks, a company in Germany. Once signed in, you can download the data processing agreement as a PDF.
Can I use my own domain for Immich?
Yes, on Pro, or on the free plan by making this one app a Pro app. HTTPS for the domain is set up for you.
Is Immich backed up?
Its database is backed up every night: 7 nights are kept on the free plan, 30 on Pro. On Pro the app's files are copied every night too.
How does Immich get updates?
With automatic updates on, it gets new versions of its version line overnight. If a new version doesn't start, the one before it keeps running.
