Home Assistant hosting in the EU
Run your own Home Assistant, an alternative to Google Home and Amazon Alexa. One-click install, HTTPS, servers in the EU. Free plan, no card.
Home Assistant: control lights, heating and more - everything local, nothing in someone else's cloud. On blitz.cloud you install it from the App Store in one click. It gets its own address with HTTPS, 1 GB of storage, and it runs on servers in the EU. You can run it on the free plan, without a credit card.
A self-hosted alternative to Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings
Home Assistant does the job of Google Home, Amazon Alexa or SmartThings, but it is your own copy: your data sits in your app, not in somebody else's account, and nobody changes the price or the rules on you. Self-hosting usually means renting a server and keeping it patched. Here the App Store sets it up and keeps it running.
What it needs
| Need | Home Assistant |
|---|---|
| Memory | 256 MB reserved from your plan |
| Storage | 1 GB |
| Database | none |
| Plan | Free or Pro |
Install it
- Create a free account and open the App Store in the dashboard.
- Search for Home Assistant, or for Google Home, and pick a name. It becomes the address, like
home.yourname.blitz.cloud. - Click Put it online. The last step lists everything that gets created and how much of your plan it uses.
- Open the app's address and create your account. The first account made is the owner.
- Add the services you use online, like weather or your smart plugs' cloud, under Settings, Devices and services.
While it sleeps
Home Assistant only runs its automations while it is awake. On the free plan an app sleeps after 30 minutes without visitors. On Pro, installing Home Assistant keeps it awake. If only this one app has to stay awake, you can make it a Pro app instead of moving your whole account.
Good to know
It cannot see devices on your home network from here, so it works with devices and services that are reachable over the internet.
