Linkwarden hosting in the EU

Run your own Linkwarden, an alternative to Pocket and Raindrop.io. One-click install, HTTPS, servers in the EU. Free plan, no card.

Updated

Linkwarden: save links with a full copy of each page, so they still open after the site is gone. On blitz.cloud you install it from the App Store in one click. It gets its own address with HTTPS, 2 GB of storage and the PostgreSQL it needs, and it runs on servers in the EU. You can run it on the free plan, without a credit card.

A self-hosted alternative to Pocket, Raindrop.io and Instapaper

Linkwarden does the job of Pocket, Raindrop.io or Instapaper, but it is your own copy: your data sits in your app, not in somebody else's account, and nobody changes the price or the rules on you. Self-hosting usually means renting a server and keeping it patched. Here the App Store sets it up and keeps it running.

Install it

  1. Create a free account and open the App Store in the dashboard.
  2. Search for Linkwarden, or for Pocket, and pick a name. It becomes the address, like linkwarden.yourname.blitz.cloud.
  3. Click Put it online. The last step lists everything that gets created, the database included, and how much of your plan it uses.
  4. Open it from your private network and make your account.
  5. Add the browser extension so saving a page takes one click.

Good to know

Anyone who can open it can make an account, and it cannot be switched off reliably, so it starts private. Keep it that way. Saving a copy of a page takes most of its memory for a moment, so add links a few at a time.

Questions

Can I host Linkwarden for free?

Yes. The free plan runs it without a card and without an end date. The app sleeps after 30 minutes without visitors, and the next visit wakes it.

Where is my Linkwarden data stored?

On blitz.cloud's servers in the EU, run by BlitzWorks, a company in Germany. Once signed in, you can download the data processing agreement as a PDF.

Can I use my own domain for Linkwarden?

Yes, on Pro, or on the free plan by making this one app a Pro app. HTTPS for the domain is set up for you.

Is Linkwarden backed up?

Its database is backed up every night: 7 nights are kept on the free plan, 30 on Pro. On Pro the app's files are copied every night too.

How does Linkwarden get updates?

With automatic updates on, it gets new versions of its version line overnight. If a new version doesn't start, the one before it keeps running.
