WAHA hosting in the EU
Run your own WAHA, an alternative to Twilio and WhatsApp Business API. One-click install, HTTPS, servers in the EU. Free plan, no card.
WAHA: A WhatsApp API you run yourself. Connect a number, then send and receive messages over HTTP. On blitz.cloud you install it from the App Store in one click. It gets its own address with HTTPS, 1 GB of storage, and it runs on servers in the EU. You can run it on the free plan, without a credit card.
A self-hosted alternative to Twilio, WhatsApp Business API and Evolution API
WAHA does the job of Twilio, WhatsApp Business API or Evolution API, but it is your own copy: your data sits in your app, not in somebody else's account, and nobody changes the price or the rules on you. Self-hosting usually means renting a server and keeping it patched. Here the App Store sets it up and keeps it running.
What it needs
| Need | WAHA |
|---|---|
| Memory | 256 MB reserved from your plan |
| Storage | 1 GB |
| Database | none |
| Plan | Free or Pro |
Install it
- Create a free account and open the App Store in the dashboard.
- Search for WAHA, or for Twilio, and pick a name. It becomes the address, like
waha.yourname.blitz.cloud. - Click Put it online. The last step lists everything that gets created and how much of your plan it uses.
- Open the app's address/dashboard and sign in as admin with this password.
- Start the session called default and scan its QR code with WhatsApp on your phone.
While it sleeps
WAHA only connected to WhatsApp while it is awake, so messages and webhooks wait until then. On the free plan an app sleeps after 30 minutes without visitors. On Pro, installing WAHA keeps it awake. If only this one app has to stay awake, you can make it a Pro app instead of moving your whole account.
Good to know
The free edition connects one WhatsApp number. WhatsApp does not allow unofficial clients, so a number used this way can be banned.
Questions
Can I host WAHA for free?
Yes. The free plan runs it without a card and without an end date. The app sleeps after 30 minutes without visitors, and the next visit wakes it.

Can I use my own domain for WAHA?

Is WAHA backed up?
On Pro its files are copied every night and kept for 30 nights, and you can put them back from the app's page. On the free plan they are not copied, so keep an export of what matters.
