Jellyfin pricing in 2026

What self-hosting Jellyfin yourself costs, and what it costs free or always-on on blitz.cloud.

Updated

There's no official "Jellyfin Cloud"; it's a media server you run yourself and watch from. The services people compare it to for streaming are subscription-based (like Netflix), not self-hosted. On blitz.cloud you can run Jellyfin free, with the usual free-plan limits, or keep it awake on Pro so you can stream any time.

Self-hosting Jellyfin yourself

Jellyfin's source is public under the AGPL v3 licence, free for any use including commercial. What it costs instead: a server you pick and pay for whether you use it or not, storage for your media files, installing Docker, setting up HTTPS yourself, and keeping backups and updates current.

Running your own Jellyfin on blitz.cloud

You can run Jellyfin on blitz.cloud free of charge. Install Jellyfin from the App Store; it comes with its own HTTPS address and 5 GB of storage for your media library, and it needs no database. On the free plan it sleeps after 30 minutes without a visit, and while it sleeps streaming stops.

On Pro, 7 EUR a month, you can keep Jellyfin awake so you can stream any time.

It runs in the small resource size, 128 MB of memory reserved with room to grow to 512 MB. We don't have a timed install figure for Jellyfin yet; it has no database to wait on, which is why it runs in the lightest size the store offers.

When Jellyfin starts, it sets up a default admin account; you log in as admin, set your own password, and you become the owner. Nobody else can create accounts unless you invite them with a link.

Is it free / does it run 24/7 / do I need a card

Is Jellyfin free? The software is free either way, for your own media library. There's no paid hosted version to compare it to. Running it yourself on blitz.cloud's free plan costs nothing, with the storage limits above.

Does it run 24/7? Self-hosting it yourself does, if your server stays up. On blitz.cloud's free plan it sleeps when nobody visits and streaming stops; on Pro it stays awake.

Do I need a card? blitz.cloud's free plan needs no card.

Keep your app awake.

On Pro an app answers at any hour, so schedules run on time and webhooks arrive straight away. 7 EUR a month for all your apps. Try it free for 14 days: starting doesn't need payment details, and if you don't add them before it ends, nothing is charged.
