WordPress pricing in 2026
What paid WordPress hosting costs in 2026, what self-hosting WordPress yourself costs, and what it costs free or always-on on blitz.cloud.
WordPress.com offers hosted WordPress with their own plans; WordPress itself is free open-source software you can run anywhere. On blitz.cloud you can run WordPress free, with the usual free-plan limits, or keep it awake on Pro so visitors always find it online.

WordPress.com also offers a free plan with wordpress.com branding and limited features, and custom Enterprise plans.
Self-hosting WordPress yourself
WordPress's source is public under the GPL v2 licence, free for any use including commercial. What it costs instead: a server you pick and pay for whether you use it or not, a database (MySQL or MariaDB), installing it, setting up HTTPS yourself, and keeping backups and updates current.
Running your own WordPress on blitz.cloud
You can run WordPress on blitz.cloud free of charge. Install WordPress from the App Store; it comes with its own HTTPS address, a MariaDB database already set up, and 2 GB of storage for your site and uploads. On the free plan it sleeps after 30 minutes without a visit, and while it sleeps your site does not answer visitor requests.
On Pro, 7 EUR a month, you can keep WordPress awake so visitors always find it online.
It runs in the small resource size, 128 MB of memory reserved with room to grow to 512 MB. We don't have a timed install figure for WordPress yet; it needs a database which takes a few seconds to initialize.
Is it free / does it run 24/7 / do I need a card
Is WordPress free? The software is free either way. WordPress.com's cheapest paid plan is $9 a month; it also has a free plan with their branding and limited features. Running WordPress yourself on blitz.cloud's free plan costs nothing.
Does it run 24/7? WordPress.com's paid plans do. On blitz.cloud's free plan WordPress sleeps when nobody visits and stops answering; on Pro it stays awake.
Do I need a card? WordPress.com's free plan needs no card, and neither does blitz.cloud's free plan.
