Self-host Uptime Kuma on blitz.cloud

Install Uptime Kuma on blitz.cloud in one click, hosted in the EU with HTTPS. Setup, notifications, keeping it awake, and a private option.

Updated

To self-host Uptime Kuma on blitz.cloud, install it from the App Store: pick Uptime Kuma, choose an address and click Put it online. blitz.cloud sets the address, gives it 1 GB of storage for monitoring data, and puts it online with HTTPS. No database needed. It is free to run. On the free plan Uptime Kuma sleeps after 30 minutes without a visit, and stops checking your sites while asleep. Someone has to open it to wake it and resume checks. On Pro you can keep it awake, so checks run 24/7.

Install it

  1. In the dashboard, open the App Store and pick Uptime Kuma, or click Host something new and choose "A ready-made app".
  2. Give it an address such as status and click Put it online.
  3. Open https://status.yourname.blitz.cloud and create the admin account. The first person to open it becomes the admin, so do this right after the install: until then, anyone who finds the address could.

Keep it checking: the Pro case

The core of Uptime Kuma is checking things without you watching. But on the free plan, when it sleeps, it stops. If you want reliable monitoring, this is what Pro gives you: turn on keep-awake in Settings on Pro (7 EUR/month) and checks run 24/7. On the free plan, Uptime Kuma is fine for checking things by hand or for short stretches but not for serious monitoring.

Notifications

Uptime Kuma can send alerts over many channels: Discord, Telegram, email, webhooks and more. Email doesn't work out of the box. blitz.cloud blocks outgoing ports 25, 465 and 587 for every app, to keep the platform from being used for spam. If your mail provider accepts SMTP on port 2525, you can use it. The other way is a provider with an HTTP API.

Backups

Uptime Kuma stores monitors, notifications and history in SQLite inside /app/data. On the free plan nothing is backed up. On Pro, app files are copied every night and kept for 30 nights, and you can put them back from the app's Settings tab.

Either way, keep a note of which sites and notification channels you set up. If you need to set Uptime Kuma up again, this list is what you need.

Keeping the dashboard private

The dashboard with your sites' status probably doesn't need to be public. You can make Uptime Kuma a private app via Tailscale or WireGuard on blitz.cloud, and the dashboard keeps its address and HTTPS but only opens on your own devices in that network. See private apps.

Size

Uptime Kuma uses little memory. It runs in the small size: 128 MB reserved from your plan's 512 MB, with room to grow to 512 MB. That is plenty for monitoring dozens of sites.

Keep your app awake.

On Pro an app answers at any hour, so schedules run on time and webhooks arrive straight away. 7 EUR a month for all your apps. Try it free for 14 days: starting doesn't need payment details, and if you don't add them before it ends, nothing is charged.
